MK Professional sells to two audiences at once: licensed stylists and salon owners who buy professional treatments at trade pricing, and retail customers who buy aftercare and styling products. Historically that meant two separate websites — and everything bad that comes with it: a split catalog, double the maintenance, SEO signals divided across properties, and pros bouncing between sites to figure out where they were actually supposed to order.
One storefront for pros and everyone else
We consolidated both properties into a single Shopify storefront at mkprofessional.com, built with custom development on top of a theme. The key piece is one unified account system: pros and non-pros log into the same store, and the experience adapts to who you are. An approved professional sees pro pricing across the catalog the moment they sign in; a retail customer sees standard pricing on the same products. No duplicate catalogs, no second site, no "which login do I use?"
The migration itself followed the boring-but-critical playbook: catalog and content merged, every legacy URL 301-redirected to its new home so accumulated rankings and links carried over, and tracking rebuilt so one property now collects all the data the brand used to split in two.
The unified store became the foundation everything else sits on: one customer database feeding email, one funnel feeding paid ads, and the custom pro application portal that controls who gets trade pricing.
